Please join us for the Winter Retreat for our fantastic fun for teachers, parents, and students. January 12-14, 2018 in Madison, Wisconsin!
We, the Suzuki Association of Wisconsin, are teachers, parents, students, and friends dedicated to supporting each other and spreading the life-enhancing joy of Suzuki music-making.
We love the confidence, poise, and self-discipline Suzuki training establishes in our children. Too, we love the deep connections we build with our children and each other in meeting the challenges and sharing the fun of the Suzuki adventure.

The 2018 Sensei Leadership Award Honoree
Mrs. Celestine Fitzgerald has been teaching Suzuki violin/viola since 1980. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Alverno College studying under Sr. Agnes Meysenburg. In 1984, Mrs. Fitzgerald attended the Suzuki Association of the Americas Teachers' Conference in Chicago, where she had an opportunity to be in the presence of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki and learn directly from him. She received her Suzuki training from nationally known Teacher Trainers Joan Rooney, Alan Lieb and Carol Dallinger. Mrs. Fitzgerald is a SAA registered Suzuki violin/viola instructor.
Mrs. Fitzgerald began her Suzuki teaching with Sister Noraleen Retinger, at Mount Mary College. After leaving Mount Mary she continued her teaching as a faculty member of the Rooney School of Violin before founding the Barcel Suzuki String Academy with Barbara Schaefer in 1994. In 1995 The Civic Music Association of Milwaukee awarded Mrs. Fitzgerald the Certificate of Excellence in Studio Teaching.
In addition to her Suzuki violin/viola teaching, Mrs. Fitzgerald was a Suzuki mom to three wonderful children, all of whom are active musicians. During this time she also was General Music teacher at St. Joseph School in Wauwatosa for 19 years. Presently she continues to participate in the music life of St. Joseph parish by coordinating and ringing in the Handbell Choir while also doing what she loves, teaching Suzuki violin for the Barcel Suzuki String Academy.
