WINTER RETREAT 2020 ENRICHMENT CLASSES

Decoder Academy: Connecting Creativity and Critical Thinking
All instrumentalists- Books 3-4
​
Decoders are a unique process to show students how composers created the music in the Suzuki books. The 3 questions that decoders answer are: 1)why does this music exist, 2) how did the composer put it together, and 3) what is the music saying? Students develop scaffolding, musical vocabulary, & confidence in performing & creating.

Orchestra, Books 2 & 3
All string instruments
The intermediate orchestra allows string players to build upon techniques from the Suzuki repertoire.  The intermediate orchestra is recommended for students in Books 2 and 3.  Students will explore rhythms, ensemble skills, and new repertoire!

Orchestra, Books 4 and Above
All string instruments
The advanced orchestra provides a comprehensive ensemble experience and individualized instruction for developing string players. Repertoire is chosen to introduce new techniques and more complicated rhythms, including styles ranging from Baroque to contemporary.  The advanced orchestra is recommend for students in Books 4 and above.  ​

Secrets of Irish Fiddle
Violin, Viola, Cello Late Book 1-2
Learn the most well-kept secret of Irish music & make your audience dance!

​Exploring the Baroque Cello
Cellists Book 4 and above
Come & Learn about the Baroque Cello, and explore performing in a historical style. Repertoire for the class will be the Marcello E minor sonata, Vivaldi E minor sonata & Bach Cello Suites. The Class will be focused on Historical bowing styles, ornaments & continuo playing.

Yoga for Everyone
For all ages and instruments
​Come for some gentle yoga-all ages are welcome

Balancing Well at the Piano
Pianists of any level
Learn to balance the hand and forearm to free the fingers and begin to solve technical difficulties

Rhythm Cups
For all ages and instruments
​Have fun with rhythm through cup tapping! Exciting group rhythm activities accompanied by music for all ages & levels.

Piano Duets
Pianists Mid Book 2 and up
​Coaching session and performance on a piano duet. Repertoire will be sent out by shortly after registration. Pre-formed groups are welcome, but not required.

Musopoly
For all ages and instruments
Play the creative, fun game called Musopoly which turns learning music theory and reading into an exciting board game!

SECE
FREE! Birth-Three Years Baby/Toddler Class!
Suzuki Early Childhood Education (SECE) is a program in which a mixed age group of children ages 0-3 meet weekly, building on concepts and skills laid out in the SECE repertoire while interacting with one another, their parents, and the teachers.
This program uses high quality musical instruments, songs, creative movement, familiar nursery rhymes, and activities to ensure maximum learning and growth. Suzuki early childhood educators work in partnership with parents to create a nurturing and stimulating learning environment.
