Yoga (all ages and instruments):  Anne Chevalier McKechnie, MS, RN, is a certified yoga instructor offering ‘Yoga for Young Musicians’ at the 2010 Suzuki Association of Wisconsin Conference. This class emphasizes attending to and caring for the body and mind of the young musician. Breathing and concentration techniques, specific hatha postures to alleviate stress and strain experienced by strings players, and sangha practice (or practice in “community” with a purpose) will be the focus. This is a friendly and fun class for beginning and intermediate students. Anne completed her 300 hour yoga certification at the Institute of the Himalayan Tradition in St. Paul, MN in 2006 and has taught yoga to individuals from ages 3 to 81.

Where is the rhythm?  Does it lie in the notes on the page, or in your little musician?  Join me to help your child feel the rhythm inside. We will do many fun rhythm exercises.  We will be working together to help each individual begin to find the beat!   We will be using your instrument, so please have it along. The ultimate goal of this enrichment course is to help your child understand how to feel the rhythm.  This will enhance their ability to stay together when playing with others.
